Camping Facilities

There are 15 camp sites spread over a fenced off area are of 5 acres. Of these, 5 camp sites have private ablution facilities while the rest share an ablution block with seperate showers and toilets for male and female guests. The sites are separated by bushes and trees making for a private experience. There is also a swimming pool to cool off during the warm days, shared by all our guests.

Oxwagon

4-sleeper self-catering Ox Wagon.
Basic Self Catering Facility with private ablution and kitchen area. Basic cooking equipment and cutlery are provided. Beds consists of a double and a 3/4 bed with linnen provided.

Game Drives

Selfdrive routes in the South can be used by guests in their own vehicle to view the Fauna and Flora of Dinokeng game reserve and visit the different picnic sites. Guided game drives into the northern area where lion and elephant are more frequently seen can be booked with Wild life Enterprises at the Barn at Safari mall about 2 km from Steenbok bushcamp. Guided game drives in the South can also be organised by management.

Mamals

Dinokeng Game Reserve is the only reserve in Gauteng with Big Five Status hosting all five species of the big five. There are also plains game in abundance like zebra,red hartbees, eland, blue wildebees, giraffe, tsetsebe,impala, njalas and a variety of small game like grey duiker, steenbok, bushbuck and even a few red duiker. Apart from lion and leapard the other predators include cheetah, caracal, serval, Brown and spotted hyena and jackel. Buffalo and Rhino are often seen with the ocational Elephant and Lions.

Birds

Dinokeng is one of South Africa's prime birdwatching areas, and is second only to Ndumo in the St Lucia area in terms of its numbers of bird species, making this a twitcher's paradise! The close proximity of water, grassland and bushveld habitats attract a wide variety of birds in a relatively small area. The Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve (DB5) is situated in the north-west quadrant of the Gauteng Province of South Africa. The greater Dinokeng area covers approximately 281 000 ha of rural land, incorporating Roodeplaat, Cullinan, Rayton and open bushveld north of the Moloto Road (R573).
